First Steps towards an Acting Dream
At some point in your
life, you lose hope and nature takes control of your life – that's the world's
greatest lie. The honest truth is that when you're in pursuit of something, the
entire universe makes an effort to help you succeed. So, whatever your dream
is, fight for it till the end.
Just like any other dream,
an acting dream is also valid. You only need to follow it to the end if it is
your personal legend. So, if you want to know what your first step towards an
acting dream, read on.
Before you even know the
first step, you need to understand that acting is a journey. So, there is still
a long way to go. The bitter truth is that it's a long path, but if you're
passionate and dedicated about it, you will achieve great things. Sounds great
now, right? Now proceed and figure things out first!
Figure out Things First
There are three categories
of actors. So, know where you fall first. The categories include:
·
Those who just
consider acting as a dream and stop there.
·
Those who jump
into it thinking it is a sure – fire way of getting rich.
·
And the last
group are those that have set crazy but achievable goals and work towards them.
After you have known which
group you fall in – hopefully, on the third group, you need to ask yourself
these questions:
·
Is acting your
passion and do you enjoy it?
·
How best can
you handle the many NO's you'll receive?
·
Are you
willing to sacrifice?
If you have answers to
those questions, then make an action plan.
Acting Plan
An action plan is set up
an approach or strategy you would adopt, in writing. You can have a diary,
where you can record the strategies that you have come up with. When you have
jotted them down, ask yourself the following questions:
·
Do you
understand how the business of acting works?
·
What type of
training will suit you and where?
·
Where will you
find your auditions?
·
Do you need
training?
When you have answers to
those questions, begin your acting training if one of your answers was that you
needed training.
Acting Training
Do not skip this. You need
someone to take you through – a mentor, a teacher et cetera. There are tons of
places you can get trained in London. There is acting College in London where
